The National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) is an information repository that contains information on medical malpractice payments and adverse actions associated with healthcare practitioners, entities, providers, and suppliers.

This search of the NPDB is to identify if a medical practitioner has any reports associated with them, including:

  • Medical malpractice payments
  • Federal and state license and certification actions
  • Adverse clinical privileges actions
  • Adverse professional society membership actions
  • Negative actions or findings by private accreditation organizations and peer revieworganizations
  • Health care-related criminal convictions and civil judgments
  • Exclusions from participation in a federal or state health care program (including Medicare and Medicaid exclusions)
  • Other adjudicated actions or decisions
